How to Join the Global Treesure Hunt

Share the adventure of lone trees worldwide!

Welcome to TreeSolo — your global Treesure Hunt! TreeSolo is a worldwide challenge to discover and share lone-standing trees. Upload photos, tell their stories, explore others’ finds, and join a community of nature lovers. Here’s how to start your adventure.

TreeSolo Tips & Guidelines

  • Find a tree that stands apart — any type, as long as it rules its own space. It should be at least 20 metres from another of its kind.
  • Take a clear photo showing the full tree, if you can, and its setting — sharp, well-lit, and uncrowded.
  • Tell a short story or fun fact (e.g., “This pine survived a storm!”) or keep it mysterious (e.g., “Who planted this oak?”).
  • Include Google Maps coordinates to inspire a quest.
  • Be safe and respectful — stick to accessible places, care for the tree, and use your own photos or credit others.

How to Submit Your Tree

  1. Visit TreeSolo and click “Submit a Tree” (sign up or log in if needed).
  2. Fill out the form: upload a photo (JPEG/PNG, max 1 MB), add a title (e.g., “Lone Pine on Mount Cook”), write a story (100–300 words), and include coordinates.
  3. Click Submit to share your tree!
